Five minutes of thinking. Ten minutes of typing. Ten minutes of brainstorming, followed by another five re-typing what you had just typed. At last. Perfection! Then an hour later, maybe a day, or a week, follows the obligatory been-doing-this-way-too-long-for-a-good-excuse slip of the mouse button and you have only enough time to see the delete icon disappear as you are reassuringly informed that the “Record has been permanently deleted. Please click OK to continue.”
It’s good to know your records have been deleted. It’s even better to know they’re going to be deleted. Web applications are for humans, and every human makes the occasional error.
I just though this moment would be a good time to share the affirmation of the importance of attention to this particular detail. Because it’s so much better to see “Are you sure you want to delete this?” instead of “Deleted, now deal with it.”.
